Individual Therapy in New York and Online

One-to-one online therapy with Brad Salzman, LCSW, CSAT, for sex and porn addiction and for the problems that often travel with them, such as anxiety, depression and relationship difficulties.
Who individual therapy is for
Most of Brad’s clients work with him one to one. Some come because of compulsive sexual behavior or pornography use. Others come because they feel stuck, anxious or unhappy, or because the same problems keep coming up in their relationships.
Brad works with adults on:
- Sex addiction and compulsive sexual behavior
- Pornography addiction
- Anxiety and panic
- Depression
- Trouble with focus, and obsessive thinking
- Alcohol and drug use, and gambling
- Relationship and intimacy problems
- Sexual dysfunction
These problems often overlap. Working with one therapist keeps the whole picture in one place, instead of splitting it between different specialists.
How Brad works
Brad believes that each client is unique and has a unique story to tell. Therapy starts from that story, not from a fixed program.
When addiction is part of the picture, his approach usually has two stages. The first is practical: steps to stop the behaviors that are causing harm. The second goes deeper, to the problems underneath, which are often connected to long-standing difficulties with emotional intimacy and connection.
Depending on what each person needs, Brad draws mainly on cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and interpersonal therapy, along with 12-step work where it helps. He is also trained in EMDR and hypnotherapy, which inform his work.
He brings insight, sensitivity and humor to the work, and clients typically say they feel respected and understood.
How it starts
Work begins with a free, confidential phone consultation, where you can describe what is happening and ask questions. If you decide to go ahead, the first session is mainly an assessment: what brings you in, your history, and what you would like to change.
From there, Brad and the client agree on goals and how often to meet. How long therapy takes depends on the person and the goals, and it is something to talk about openly along the way.
Online, private and flexible
- Online by video. Sessions take place from home or wherever you can talk privately. There is no waiting room.
- Early and weekend hours. Early morning and weekend sessions are available, scheduled in New York time.
- Private pay. Brad does not bill insurance. On request, he provides itemized receipts you can submit for out-of-network reimbursement.
- Confidential. What you share is kept confidential, within the legal limits.
When more support is needed
Weekly individual therapy suits most people. When change needs to happen faster, Brad also offers intensive programs, in person and online.
If a partner has been hurt, they can get support of their own through partner therapy. When both people are ready, couples therapy can help with repair.
What clients say
“I’ve seen Brad off and on for the better part of 20 years, and I’ve seen other therapists in between. There’s a reason I keep coming back to Brad. He’s honest, smart and has integrity. I may not always like what he has to say, but it has to be said.”
“When I first came to Brad, I was depressed, and I had trouble getting out of bed. I was headed for failure. Working with Brad, I realized I had been dragging around a lot of unresolved family issues that were causing my problems. My life is 100% different, and I am so happy.”
